Thankful Thursday: Mindfulness Meets Gratitude



Yesterday we reviewed the value of a digital detox. Today let’s discuss the significance of giving thanks. Another word for this is gratitude, and it really is a practice more than anything else. What are you grateful for in your life? Do you take time to recognize the gift of life that you get to enjoy? I know that some days can be really draining, and the hustle of work and life can leave you feeling completely empty. But I also know that there is good stuff in the middle of the mess.


Abundance is all around us. We just have to set an intention for our eyes, ears, and mind to take in all the beauty taking place, and then acknowledge it! One of the fastest ways to elevate your mind is to acknowledge and give praise for all of the blessings all around you. The more often you do this, the better you will feel about this gift of life.


Did you know: Gratitude has long been touted as a virtuous practice in both religious and secular models. Recent studies have continued to expand on its value in not only morality but also general health and well-being. An article in WebMD explains that the practice of gratitude helps to boost the immune system, assists with prioritizing practices of self-care, and reduces stress. Now that is something for which to give thanks. Just a few minutes of focused gratitude will serve you for years to come.

Thankful Thursday (Mind) - Coaching Exercises/Questions

Take at least 2-5 minutes each day for uninterrupted time to write down as many things as you can think for which you are thankful.


Invite a close friend or loved one into your gratitude journey. Share your blessings and the lessons that you are learning. Ask them to join you along the way.
