As we roll into April, we get closer and closer to the start of Spring. The birds are already singing outside, and the world is painted a beautiful shade of green. As we leave behind yet another Winter, it is important that, like the planet, we also attempt to reset and restructure ourselves.
Resetting and restructuring yourself is one of the best ways to grow as a person. By allowing ourselves to reset, we are shedding the skin of negative feelings and emotions and moving towards a new wave of positivity and happiness. Here are some ways in which you can reset and renew your body, mind, and soul.
Get Some Fresh Air
Whether it is something as small as opening your windows, fresh air is the best way to kickstart your day. During the winter months, we have all tried to stay away form the cold winds outside, so it is important now for us to enjoy the upcoming spring breeze. The smells, the sounds and the light all go a long way in helping us find peace and health. After all, natural light has health benefits that far exceed any artificial lighting system and enjoying the smells and sounds of springtime is a joy that is often unmatched. So, open your windows and find inner peace by treating your senses to some Spring nature.
Springtime is a time where we can genuinely appreciate nature. After a long winter, we finally have a good reason to get out of the house and enjoy the warmth of Springtime. Staying indoors for a long period of time is extremely unhealthy, and since we have been forced to be confined in our houses for the past year and a half, we need to take every excuse to get back outside. As the weather warms up, it is the perfect time to get out and relieve our mental stresses. As the flowers start to bloom back up and the trees regrow their leaves, we can marvel at the spectacle of rebirth in nature. These are important things for our body and soul to enjoy as it reduces a lot of tension and helps us relax. Furthermore, seeing this renewal of nature can often trigger the same renewal of our mental energy. After all, we are all connected to nature in a much deeper way than we are to technology.
Take Time Away From Technology
Speaking about a connection to technology, COVID-19 has forced all of us to rely heavily on our devices. Students and workers alike have been forced to use their devices to ensure that they are completing their work, attending classes, and attending meetings. This reliance and heavy use on technology greatly impacts our mind, body, and soul. For starters, it requires us to sit still for long periods of time which is extremely detrimental to our body. It also forces us to overuse our eyes and minds, oftentimes straining it with stress. Finally, the overuse of technology severely affects our spirit by forcing us to stay in and lose the physical communication process that every human craves. Communicating over devices is simply not the same as communicating in person and when we are deprived of this form of communication, it negatively affects our mental and spiritual health. So, we must take some time to step away from our devices every day, and what better time to do that than Spring. We can enjoy the birds singing, watch the squirrels scurry along the treetops, take a moment to see the flowers, or even go for a walk. There are so many ways to enjoy life outside of our technological confines.
Even though fitness was something that has not been on every person’s mind this past year and a half, it is an important part of every person’s overall health. We need to ensure that we get back to working out, however little work that may be. It is important for us to keep our bodies in shape, especially since we are in the middle of a pandemic and lockdowns. To reset or renew ourselves, we must branch out and attempt to do things that we have not for a long period of time, fitness is one of the best ways to reset our bodies. It allows our bodies to function at a higher level and this, in turn, gives us the ability to do things we probably have not been able to, such as find a new hobby or go hiking. Fitness is a vital part of our wholistic health as well. Having a fit body takes a lot of stress away from our mind and spirit as we often become more confident. This is important to improving our self-worth, which in turn lets us reset ourselves.
Take Up A New Hobby
Hobbies often help us rewind and alleviate any stress. While there are many hobbies like what has already been discussed, such as fitness and plant keeping, there are many others that can particularly help us reset our minds and renew our energy. A great example of a hobby is learning a new instrument. Playing an instrument is a great way to relieve stress and disconnect from the world for a few moments. Music is something that inherently allows us to reset our minds, and creating music almost doubles that effect. While many people may find it challenging to pick up a new instrument, it is this difficulty that often appeals to others, the constant attention means that people will find time to play the instrument and when they do, they find time for themselves. Picking up a new instrument, in many ways is a way of renewing your life, it adds a component that was not present in your daily life before and it allows us to express ourselves in new ways. Another great hobby would be reading. In the same way that learning an instrument helps us escape the stress, reading often helps us escape everything. By transporting ourselves into a story, we are letting go of a lot of stress we experience in this world. There are many books that can help us improve ourselves, and in many ways, improving ourselves is often the first step towards renewing our body, mind, and spirit.
Surround Yourself With Positivity
While renewing yourself, it is important to remain positive. Often, change comes with setbacks and this manifests itself into negativity within one’s life. It is thus important to ensure that as you renew and reset yourself, you surround yourself with positivity. By ensuring this positivity, you can ensure that your reset will go by with no harm to your mental, physical, or spiritual health. There are many ways to ensure this positivity. It helps to surround yourself with people you know, but also to try and get to know others. Social contact, new and old, can greatly help, so can meditation and music. Another great help can be surrounding yourself with colors. Colors can incite moods in our lives and bright colors are great at maintaining peace and promoting positivity.
These are just a few ways to help your first steps of renewal and resetting. Every one of us needs some time to renew ourselves and to look at ourselves. Renewal and resetting can greatly help us grow as people, much like how a tree or plant grows each season during springtime. So, as we look around and see the leaves returning to the trees, we should consider doing the same to help us grow as individuals.
