When we think about women, we think about the power to create, nurture and transform the world. Women constitute the idea of selfless love, care, affection, and incredible strength. Additionally, women represent the free spirit of power and hope.
International Women's Day is an important event where everyone celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women all over the world. This special day is a global reminder to not only stop and acknowledge women's achievements but also to raise awareness about women's rights and equality.
The main objective of this celebration is to express our love and gratitude for the contribution of women in our lives and society. On this day, may we pause for a minute and think about the power, struggles, and resilience of women who have fought for a better future and contributed in one way or another to enhance the daily experience of life that we have today!
The History Behind International Women's Day
This international celebration was first born on March 8, 1908, when 15,000 women fought for their rights in the streets of New York City in order to get shorter hours at their jobs, better salaries, and the right to vote. After that, the first official International Women's Day event was held in 1911, in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland, because the United Nations didn't recognize it as a holiday until 1975 when they began celebrating it and declared it to be the International Women's Day.
